At the end of each financial year formally known as our “Mid Year Retreat” as well as at Christmas time we all get together as a team to enjoy some competitive fun.
Master Chef Challenge – July 2010
The team here at Robson Partners woke bright and early in the morning in aspiration of a day full of fun, team building and knowledge building. Our day began with a bus trip down to Sydney. On the bus ride, we completed a “So you think you know your work mates” quiz where we all learnt at least one new thing about each of our colleagues. Many secrets were let out on this bus trip which caused jaw lock on some as they were laughing non-stop for 2 hours.
We arrived at Count Head Office in Sydney for a Wealth Protection and SMSF knowledge building session. Lunch was served 19 stories above Sydney Harbour where everyone sat and enjoyed the phenomenal views.
Next on the agenda was Perpetual team building, where we split into our 3 teams and worked through various stages of building our Robson “Values”.
Lastly, we made our way to the surprise destination of “Cheeky Food Group”. Again, we were split into our 3 teams and were set a Master chef challenge.
5 dishes per team with 90 minutes to prepare all 5 dishes. Each team was judged on techniques used, presentation, team involvement and of course taste. Everyone was having a ball, with the disco music blaring, drinks being shared and staff dancing whilst preparing their own dinner. We set our own tea candle lit table, and sat and enjoyed the delicious dinner that we all prepared together as a team.
As with any team challenge there could only be one winner, and this time it was team “Robbo”.

Tennis - 2009 Christmas Party
Our 2009 Christmas party began with a visit to the Legacy House, where each member of our team delivered gifts and some Christmas cheer to all the ladies at Legacy House.
We then moved onto a fun and challenging afternoon of Tennis, where we were once again split into our 3 teams, Team Robbo, Team Nic and Team Devo. After a fast paced tennis tournament and play off, the points were tallied and the winner declared was Team Robbo! We celebrated the year over a traditional Australian Christmas lunch.
The Amazing Race - July 2009
Our 2009 Mid Year Retreat was interactive, fun and educational for all. We started the day with an informative presentation by BT before heading off to begin the "Amazing Race".
We were split into our 3 teams, Team Robbo, Team Nic and Team Devo for a challenging afternoon of team bonding. We raced through the sights of Sydney from China Town to the Opera House navigating and strategising to find the next location.
It was a close race with Team Nic once again proving too quick for the other two teams, taking out the title before retiring to the Phillips Foote for an enjoyable and relaxing BBQ dinner.
Mariners BBQ – Feb 2008
Following the Mariners remarkable come back in the second leg of the major grand final, winning 3-0 and claiming a grand final berth, Robson Partners got right behind the local boys. The whole office was involved with desk decorations, daily quizzes, mufti day and our Mariners Friday barbeque. On the Friday afternoon before the grand final we put down the tools and celebrated the Mariners success and discussed the tactics for the upcoming decider. Although the result didn’t go our way (clearly it was a handball) it was great to be able to bond as a team to support the local boys.
2007 Mid Year Retreat
The 2007 retreat was memorable for all involved. The day was spent at Glenworth Valley where we were first given a pep talk on how to deliver the 101% to your clients, followed by a BBQ lunch and then a guided horse ride through the valley. Shortly after, we were broken off into our three teams to combat each other in the annual grudge challenge.
This year it was laser skirmish. The first skirmish event comprised each team combating against the other two teams or shooting whichever partner had his head up the highest. The second skirmish assignment was for a team to successfully manoeuvre their VIP through the lines of the two defending teams (without dying) to capture the defending flag. Team Nic succeeded by using a ruse and diversion tactic, Team Robbo succeeded by having their VIP convince everyone she was already dead, whilst Team Devo failed.
Team Nic were finally hailed as the days champions. The day was concluded at Gosford Hotel where all enjoyed dinner & drinks, and where stories were retold and feats exaggerated on the days events.

2006 Christmas Party
For our Christmas party we all split into 3 teams, Team Devo, Team Robbo and Team Nic to participate in some competitive games. In the teams we had to come up with most wacky dress ups. Then together we sat back and took the time to reflect on the prior year, and to focus on what we all plan to achieve in the year ahead, presented a few comical awards then tucked into a divine lunch. We then headed off to Wyoming Bowling Ally (still dressed up in our outfits) to battle for the “Champion” title. Sparks were flying as all three teams went head to head to prove that they were the best. In the end, the numbers were tallied and Team Devo were pronounced the “Champions” and presented with a trophy. The night continued at the Elanora Hotel where staff along with their partners relaxed and enjoyed the evening.

2006 Mid Year Retreat
Our 2006 “Mid Year Retreat” consisted of a karaoke singing bus ride to Sydney, a very informative seminar presented by BT, followed by an adrenaline pumping jet boat ride on Sydney Harbour and concluding with an elegant dinner at the Orient at the Rocks. Waking up the next day hardly being able to lift a leg or an arm then realising the strains must have been from everyone enjoying themselves dancing the night away was definitely the icing on the cake.
