One talented architect helped design some of Sydney’s most remarkable multi-residential, retail and commercial buildings, but the high life left him wanting something more personal. Now, he is living his career dream, creating bespoke homes for families on the Central Coast.

Glenn McLeod was inspired to set up his own architectural business by his wife, who ten years ago, could see the potential for Glenn’s skill and style among the natural beauty of their Central Coast home. The housing market on the Central Coast was strengthening, and its residents were looking to create something special and unique.

“I could see the business opportunity right on my doorstep. The demand for bespoke modern housing matched the style of work I feel passionate about, which is personal design for great people,” said Glenn.

The first thing Glenn does when he meets a family looking for his expertise is to get to know them personally.

“I take time to find out about their lifestyle, practical needs, personal flair and budget. This forms the brief for design, draft and re-draft until we find the sweet spot. Creating or renovating someone’s home is a great honour and a responsibility I don’t take lightly,” he said.

Glenn has worked on more than 70 properties since he set up shop ten years ago, including new homes at Wamberal, Pearl Beach, Point Clare, Umina Beach, Empire Bay and Ourimbah.

“Every location is different and has unique natural charm that we aim to highlight through our design. Every project has been a labour of love,” said Glenn.

Glenn’s industry is currently going through a period of change. The once-linear process of design-build-consult-decorate is more effectively managed in tandem so all parties can work towards a common goal.

Glenn has partnered with Robson Partners to structure Osmond McLeod for efficiency and growth. The ongoing support of Account Managers, Fiona Booth and Troy Marchant has alleviated the pressure of flying solo.

“It’s a relief to know I’ve got qualified experts to look out for my business growth opportunities and keep me on track with my commitments. Their financial focus enables me to concentrate on my clients and projects. This has grown my business beyond what I had imagined,” said Glenn.

Glenn has overcome many of the challenges he experienced when he first went into business, such as cashflow, systems and technology and work-life balance. With three big projects on the horizon, and a budding marketing plan in progress, Glenn is looking forward to a great year ahead.
